UK Black Pride – Europe’s biggest celebration of African, Asian, Caribbean and Arab LGBT people – has announced British Soul legend OMAR as the 2012 headline act!

With six critically acclaimed albums under his belt, Omar has collaborated with the world’s best musical talents including Stevie Wonder, Angie Stone, Estelle, Taio Cruz, Rodney P and Kele LeRoc. Omar’s distinctive voice and musical style will delight his army of admirers and new fans alike. His seventh studio album is set for release followed by a national tour.

The seventh UK Black Pride festival will take place on Saturday 18 August from 12 noon until 8:30pm at the Ministry of Sound, London. The event’s theme is ‘Together we’re strong!’ and will repeat the success of previous years where a main stage with live acts will be supported by top DJs in the dance area, alongside licensed bars, a cocktail bar, VIP area, world food, education welfare workshops, community stalls, prizes and more.

Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, Director of UK Black Pride said: “We’re so excited to have Omar headline in 2012 at the world class Ministry of Sound. He’s one of the UK’s most pioneering and authentic musical talents and will crown UK Black Pride which also has a fantastic line up of established and emerging acts and DJs to keep London partying late into the evening!”
