  • Thousands of images from Pride’s across the world will be joined together to form a single symbol for WorldPride 2032

  • The bid is led by Pride in London, Outernet and UK Black Pride, in partnership with the Mayor of London, Tripadvisor, The Independent and The Standard

LONDON, 6 August 2026 – London is launching its bid to host WorldPride 2032 by putting the global LGBTQIA+ community at the creative centre of the campaign. In a distinctive approach to a major international and cultural bid, the London WorldPride 2032 Bid Committee is inviting artists, designers, photographers and Pride communities from around the world to help shape what could become the official visual identity of WorldPride 2032.

Announced today at a special reception during WorldPride Amsterdam at the British Council, the initiative marks the first major public engagement campaign for London's bid and places community participation and creative democracy at the heart of the city's ambition to host one of the world's most significant LGBTQIA+ events.

WorldPride is the premier international LGBTQIA+ event, held once every two years in a city chosen to represent the values and commitment to LGBTQIA+ equality across the globe. Hosting WorldPride positions a city as a leader in advancing LGBTQIA+ rights and celebrating the diversity of the community. If successful, London would become the first ever city to host WorldPride for a second time, having previously hosted in 2012.

The bid campaign is today launching two interconnected initiatives:

Design Competition: The London WorldPride 2032 Bid Committee is inviting LGBTQIA+ creatives from across the UK to submit an original logo outline that captures London's diversity, creativity and the significance of hosting WorldPride. If London is successful, the winning design will become London’s official WorldPride 2032 bid logo.

Global Photography Campaign: Inspired by Outernet London's record-breaking Coronation campaign, the bid is inviting members of the LGBTQIA+ community from around the world to submit photographs celebrating Pride, identity, allyship and belonging. The images will transform into a living mosaic created from thousands of community photographs that tell the story of Pride in all its forms.

The winning logo outline will be selected by the London WorldPride 2032 Bid Committee. Its designer will receive a £3,000 prize and the design will be unveiled at the end of October 2026 through an immersive installation across Outernet London’s world-famous digital screens. The installation will reveal how thousands of community images have come together to form a single symbol representing Pride across the world.

Submissions for both the design competition and photography campaign will open immediately following this announcement via the Pride in London website www.prideinlondon.org/worldpride2032. Entries close on 25th September 2026 and the winner will be announced in early October 2026.

The significance of the 2032 bid marks the 60th anniversary of London’s very first Pride march in 1972. The design competition and photography campaign offer generations of campaigners, allies and communities an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy by becoming part of the official symbol of WorldPride itself.

The 2032 bid brings together civic, cultural and commercial partners, including Pride in London, Outernet and UK Black Pride as co-chairs of the bid committee alongside the Mayor of London, Tripadvisor, The Independent and The Standard.

Tripadvisor, Official Travel Partner of the London WorldPride 2032 Bid, has already pledged £1 million of in-kind global marketing support should London be awarded WorldPride, helping promote the event to international visitors and positioning London as a destination celebrating LGBTQIA+ inclusion.

The Independent and The Standard are Official News Media Partners of the bid, and together with editorial, content, social and commercial initiatives, will contribute photography from decades of Pride coverage to help tell the story of London's LGBTQIA+ journey as part of the final artwork—creating a tangible bridge between Pride's past and its future.

Rebecca Paisis, InterimCEO, Pride in London, "Pride has always been powered by community. As we launch London's bid for WorldPride 2032, we want our community to help shape its future from day one. We're looking for bold, inspiring designs that capture London's unique spirit and photographs that celebrate Pride in all its forms across the world. As we approach the 60th anniversary of London's first Pride march, this project gives every generation an opportunity to leave their mark on what could become one of the defining moments in our movement's history."

Philip O'Ferrall, CEO of Outernet London, said, "Rather than designing a logo behind closed doors, we're inviting LGBTQIA+ creatives to help shape what could become the symbol of WorldPride 2032. This is about creating something that reflects the richness, diversity and creativity of our global community. If London is successful, millions of people will engage with this logo over the course of WorldPride, including experiencing the immersive story of the campaign on Outernet’s world-famous screens. Every photograph submitted and every creative contribution will become part of that shared story, celebrating not only where we've come from but where we're going together."

Lady Phyll, Co-Founder of UK Black Pride, Executive Director of DIVA Charitable Trust, said, “I am incredibly proud and deeply honoured to serve as Co-Chair of London’s WorldPride 2032 bid. At a time when LGBTQIA+ communities across the world are facing increasing hostility, this bid is an opportunity for London to lead with courage, purpose and global solidarity.

WorldPride must never be just about spectacle. It must be about people, justice, belonging and creating lasting change. Sixty years after London’s first Pride march, we have a responsibility to honour those who came before us while building a future that is more representative, accessible and intersectional.

This creative campaign places our communities at the heart of the bid from the very beginning. It invites people across the world not simply to witness WorldPride, but to help shape its identity and its legacy. I am proud to bring the voice, values and experience of UK Black Pride into this work and to help ensure that those who are too often pushed to the margins are visible, valued and part of the decisions we make.”

Tom Copley, London’s Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development, said, “We are hugely proud to support our capital’s bid to host World Pride 2032 and mark the 60th anniversary of the very first Pride march in London. So much has changed for the better since that important day, but shockingly we continue to see efforts across the world to take away hard-won rights and freedoms. By putting LGBTQIA+ communities at the heart of this bid, we will help show why our capital remains a beacon of inclusivity and diversity around the globe, as we build a better and fairer London for everyone.”

Justin Reid, Senior Director of Media, Destinations, Hotels and Growth at Tripadvisor,  said "Travel has the power to bring people together through shared experiences and understanding. We're proud to support London's WorldPride 2032 bid and to help showcase the city to millions of visitors around the world should the bid be successful."

Beth Gordon, Director, Brand Marketing and Communications at Independent Media, notes: "The Independent and The Standard have proudly documented London's Pride movement for decades. As steadfast campaigners for LGBTQIA+ communities, we are delighted that images from our archives will help tell this remarkable story, preserving the history of Pride while contributing to its future."
